To The Lighthouse

                            

1.       Virginia Woolf is modernistic writer in her books she wanted to toke about complexity of human relationship and woman conditions also. In ‘To the Lighthouse’ character of Mr. Ramsay is one of the best examples to say about woman mentality and their condition in society. Mrs. Ramsay wants to become one of the ideal woman, mother and wife. If you want to become a good woman you have to follow the rule 2.       like in Guajarati: “પતિ એજ પરમેશ્વર” you cannot raise any question to him. Mrs. Ramsay also following same rule, she is only busy in to make happy to her husband and take career of her child. 3.       From Mrs. Ramsay character we can got the idea of ideal Indian woman. We can find in our Ramayana role modal of Indian woman that is Sita. She has to suffer a lot only to make happy to her husband. She has to go through the Agnipariksha to prove her purity than even Ram not ready to except her. If we look at the history of Indian Ideal woman that we can find all women have to suffer a lot only make their husband happy. This all characteristic that we can find in Mrs. Ramsay also. 4.       According to me work of Lighthouse is to show the path in dark night. If we compare Mrs. Ramsay to the Lighthouse so she is also going same work which Lighthouse doing. Lighthouses standing on one place from there it lightning on anther. In Mrs. Ramsay case also we can find she is standing on one place and she try to lightning on her husband, children and other family members. Lighthouse is not only symbolic for Mrs. Ramsay but for all woman. Because women have to specify their own interest and dramas only to give lightning to their family. 5.         'Künstlerroman' it means “novel which told about progress and life of artists”this is French word Kunstler means artist and Roman means novel. we can find this novel is also about artist that Lily Briscoe. She is a painter but she has to suffer lot in society that “Woman cannot write and paint” Society does not allowed to woman that she cannot write and pint. So she has to suffer a lot in society. So we can say that ‘To the Lighthouse’ Is Kunstlerroman. 6.       I have not seen full move or not read novel also so I cannot say in brief. Move is visualized form and novel is written form So there is some changes possible. But they both are powerful and good on their place. 7.       May be at the end of the novel Lily Briscoe realized that whatever she is it good it’s no need to change herself like Mrs. Ramsay. She is good painter and she wants to paint may be she realized that for her right place is to paint. She realized that she wants to build up her career not wants to live in four wall of house but she wants to come out of it. This is goal of her life that she got.
