Chetan Bhagat’s book ‘One Night @
Call Center is deal with contemporary issues of India like Problem related
Young India, Problem related Call Center etc. All the character from the novel
is worked in call center. We generally think that a person, who works in call
center their life, is very happy because they paid more celery. But reality is
something else they were also has their own problems. During day and night they
have to work. While all India is sleeping they have to work so they cannot have
a rest like anthers. Main problem of there is if any American comes to know
that it is Indian who talked with them so they are using very abusing language.
There is a problem of self-respect. In the novel we can see that all the
character’s dressing style, their dream, their way to live a life is totally
modern and represent youth of India. It shows that how India’s Young generation
become sandwich in global world. Cream of India is generally get the job in
Call center so they loss their skill and their confidence also so it was the
main problem of young generation of India.
Indian peoples
are great lovers of chmchgiry. Everybody likes to have chamch and specially
Boss and politician. That is one kind of problem for hard workers people so
that don’t like to live and work in India. And this is one facture that India
is still conceded in undeveloped country. We can say that in the novel also
behavior of Mr. Bakshi that how he like to rule on their office member. How
badly hi behave with them. If anyone do not wants to do chamchgiry so that
person can thrown out from the system. We can find other issues also in the
novel like Bossism, family issue, and marriage issue. Bakshi is not very good
boss and he is behaving as mater and their other workers as salve. We can find
family problem also like Military uncle has problem with his daughter in law.
He does not like that his daughter in law go outside of worked. Radhika also
has problem with her Mother in law and Priyanka’s mother wants that Preyanka
should marry with very rich person. So every character from the novel has some
kind of their own family problems. Marriage problem also consider in the novel.
Radhika married woman but now she is not happy with her marriage life so she
wants devours form her husband. Shaym love priyanka but he is not able to tell
to priyanka. Pariyanka also do not want to marry with Ganesh but cause of her
mother she ready to do this. Vroom also loves to Esha but she is not ready to
make any kind of relation with him. So these type of problems that we can find
into the novel.
India is great medium of
outsourcing. Call center is one type of that. India is very great place for out
sourcing. Because India is only country in Asia where number of people speaking
English language. We can apply these things on One Night @ the Call Center
because call center is one kind of part of outsourcing. Call center is an
American system but Indian peoples are worked over there.
Narrative style of the
novel is very complex. Because in epilogue we can see that Chatan Bagat travel
and in the gurney he introduce with one lady. We have no any information about
her but she just tell the story to writer. And then waiter writes this story
from shyam prospective so we can say that novel has narrative within narrative.
This type of narrative style we
can see in the novel. But at the end of the novel we can see that writer is
sleeping and then he weak up so maybe it will be dream also. We cannot say
casualty that this novel is totally a dream or anything else.
This novel is considered
as popular novel because of weak plot. Suddenly God call was coming and
everybody rely on it without doing any counter argument. They all are very
modern and educated person in this time how one can believed that God gave call
to people and help them. It was undigested for us and if writer ants to do
write like that so he has to Shows background of the all character and how they
grown up. In ‘Life of Pie’ we can see that Pie is grown up with very religious
atmosphere his background with full of religious so it will be shallow by us
that he can believed in God what ever
happen in his life. But this type of things that we cannot see in the
novel ‘One Night @ the Cell Center’ so we cannot believed that suddenly cell from God come and all the
character believed in it without any kind of augments.
Before the beginning of the novel writer ask three
questions like :

This type of four questions that ask by him and he
said that ”It will enrich your experience of reading this book” this type of
beginning generally we can find in Self-help book. Another point of this novel
Is call from the God that God call to help the people. All should what they
wants to do. All the character from the beginning of the novel they are not
happy in their life. All are suffering from some kind of problems at the end of
the novel they all are got solution of their problem from God. This novel is
not taking about very high issues or morality but it deal with very common
thing which generally everybody face. This type of issued is generally discoed
in self-help book. So we can see that ‘One Night @ the Call Center ‘as
self-help book.
‘One Night @ the
Call Center’ is also represented anti-American thoughts. Generally people like
to work in call center because of salary and it gives high stats into society
but in the novel situation is totally different. Condition of all the character
is very bad. They have to face insure to Americans. Here call center is deeply
criticized rater than praising. So it was begets point of Anti-American
thoughts.
